Reading up on desensitization; a theory that an be linked with it is the hypodermic syringe theory. This is where the media will tell us something and we simply accept it. They stress the violence and horror of something and we accept it as fact and as time goes on become more accustomed to seeing the violence. This can cause diminished emotional responses , so maybe desensitization is nt to be solely blamed on technological advancements broadening our field of information sharing. But down to a sense of trust we have n the media, accepting what they say as the norm. Hearing it on the news makes it seem more real and by it justifying a news story people believe that something is being done and thereforethey need not worry. Does this mean that the more something is reported on the less people care?
